After such a lovely Friday evening, Kathleen and I already had plans to keep the adventures err… adventuring. That morning, we took a slow walk through Sandy Hill to Strathcona Park, where a local group was holding Art in the Park.

We had to miss the Art in the Park session in The Glebe (the one we usually attend) so it was nice to see the dozens of local artists and makers selling their wares. While we didn’t purchase anything, it was still a nice atmosphere to spend some time in on a Saturday morning. If nothing else, it’s also a good way to feel a little young when in middle age.

After taking it all in, we proceeded back downtown to purchase some cat food, have a little lunch, and linger a bit at home for a while before we were to get on a bus and head over to the Parkdale Market where the annual Pride Night Market was being held.

I don’t know how long the Pride Night Market has been going on for (it seems new-ish?), but we’ve always enjoyed ourselves when we attend. Between the craft vendors, the service tables, and the treats — ahh, the treats — we are sure to leave fat’n’happy.

It’s also just nice to be surrounded by so many other queers of all stripes in one place. It’s why I like this season: there is a different feeling of presence and of liberty when we’re assembled in numbers.¹ Fortunately, there will be plenty more where that came from this weekend, with the upcoming Trans March, Dyke March, and other festivities.
