Afternoon Light? Camera Light?

Yes and yes!

The clouds that had gathered over the city Monday morning decided some time after lunch that they would do me a favour and part for a little while.

I must say that I appreciated it.

It’s not often that I take the Yashica A out anymore. I had replaced it in 2022 with a Yashica 635 and when that developed sticky shutter problems in 2023, a Mamiya C220, which is my main TLR today.

Every once in a while, however, I like to take it out of the cabinet and give it a little bit of fresh air. Simple, unfussy, and very light to carry, it’s not only a pleasure to use, but the resulting photos can carry with them some real photographic magic.

The photos above of the stacked cinderblocks and dormant tulip bed are good examples of what I adore about this camera!
