It was nice to get out after lunch on Sunday. While I had envisioned a photo or two I wanted to make, I think our priority was just to move ourselves around a little and not get too stale indoors on a quiet day.
We took a little loop through Centretown, sticking mostly to Gladstone and the parts of our neighbourhood south of it. The highlight was our little stop in at Arlington Five, the cutest little coffee shop I know. We were actually a little surprised that they were open on a holiday, and we happily ordered nice beverages to go – Kathleen, an oat London Fog, and I a decaf oat blueberry crumble latte.
I was a little less successful in matters photographic insofar that: (a) I was a little negligent in metering along the way (the sun was in and out, and my mental calculus to compensate resulted in some overexposure), and (b) more critically, when I was removing the closed development tank from the dark bag, I managed to drop it upside down!
While it remained locked, I think knocking it like that allowed some light to reflect upward from the shiny surface of my desk and into the tank: some of the outer frames really show it, like the sticker basket inside of the shop above.
I think we were just lucky to have the little bit of sun that we did. As we were approaching our apartment, much darker clouds had gathered and no sooner had we hung up our coats, that the skies opened up with a healthy bit of rain!
