Charlotte Makes Photos

A girl and her cameras 💜

Thanks to a standing electrolysis appointment on Tuesday afternoons, my Tuesday-to-Wednesday part of the week feels somewhat hectic. Between work picking up the pace lately, dwindling daylight, and an increasing number of appointments for various things, I’m a bit pooped by midweek.

None of that stops me from making photos.

Well, not usually, anyway.

And since I share from every roll of film on here — the good and the bad, the technical failures, to threading-of-proverbial-needles — this one from the end of October gets a little daylight too. Spread over two days on my short walk back from the office, they’re nothing to write home about (hi, Mom!), but they’re all part of what I’m doing.

The last photo — an underexposed Martha perched on two boxes of kitty litter — was a bit of a reach, with the aperture wide open and shutter as slow as I could manage. While there is nothing special about that, it was her Gotcha Day.

Martha hissed her way into our home on October 30, 2020, when Kathleen had gone in to adopt one of her nine children (a lil’ orange boy), but came home with the mother instead. We learned very quickly that she does not like other cats, so when Charles sauntered on over to meet her and offer friendship, she hissed and hid.

We kept them apart for a few weeks afterward and began introducing them slowly. While it took quite a while, they’ve become true siblings, getting into fights with one another as much as they snuggle together on the bed throughout much of the day.
