I certainly didn’t intend to wait around all day on Friday for that evening’s Trans March, so I decided to get out of do a little “recovery” photography to make up for my recent disappointments with particular films.
Of course, me being me, I couldn’t help but to leave something to chance and since I was out of my usual colour developer (Flic Film’s ‘Pro’ Kit), I decided to mix the CineStill Cs41 kit I was sent in error1 last year and see what I would get from it.
Obviously, I will see more as I use it, but all else about my process being consistent, and â it’s possible I’m imagining things â, but in accord with the median chatter I’ve encountered online, the colours I’m getting from Ultramax do seem a bit different than I might expect.

- I don’t actually know if it was an error or a deliberate substitution by the vendor, but I ordered a Flic kit and the CineStill arrived. Since I was unfamiliar and users online are decidedly mixed on the CineStill kit’s performance, I had been reluctant to use it and have subsequently ordered other Flic kits since. âŠī¸
