After a few expected delays, I arrived in Toronto at about 10 minutes to 2. My sister met me at the train station and after the squeeziest hug you can imagine, she handed me a nice hot camomile tea with almond milk, and we proceeded to the hotel so that I could check in to my room.
After catching up a little, we quickly came to realize that we’re both related in another way: neither of us are willing and able to make plans and decisions. At least, it does not come as our default!
Once we got past a little “what do you want to do?”, “I don’t know, I didn’t want to tell you what to do!”, “I didn’t want to ruin your plans!”, and “I am just happy to be spending time with you!”, I asked if she was interested in using a film camera for the first time since she was in the tenth grade, and she enthusiastically agreed.
A quick refresher of the early-70s era Nikkormat’s functions, a roll of colour film, and I suggested that we do what I always do on the first day in Toronto: take a leisurely walk over to College and Bathurst for my favouritest of all vegan nachos!
