A girl and her cameras 💜

Last week, I used my last roll of Lomography Potsdam Kino (i.e. ORWO UN54) in 120. It’s a film I quite like and wish there was much more of on the market.

Unfortunately, it’s a love that isn’t especially widely-shared since, when I have been able to find it for purchase, it’s either short-dated or expired altogether. Fortunately, like many slow and medium speed black-and-white films, it hardly expires at the stroke of midnight, so the specific date doesn’t mean you’re going to get poor or uneven results.

In this case, given how busy the work-week was, I was not especially anxious to linger outside after work and instead had errands to run and dinner to cook. I wouldn’t exactly say that it is a fitting send-off for my last roll.

At the same time, it’s not as if this roll went out gracefully: the second roll I ever exposed in the Pearl was a roll of Potsdam that went fat and, wouldn’t you know it? This roll — the last roll — of Potsdam went fat too, leaving me with a few light leaks and 10 photos, instead of the 16 there ought to have been.

It’s all just as well, since I’ve resolved to standardize a little in my films, the medium-speed black-and-white role will be played by either Ilford FP4+ or Fuji Acros II, depending on my mood when I add-to-cart.
