When we planned our 2024 summer vacation, we chose mid-June because, and I quote myself, “It won’t be *too* hot yet. Toronto becomes mostly unbearable in July and especially August!” It turns out that nature, as it so often does, intended to make a complete fool of me.

We boarded a VIA Rail train on a Monday morning that promised warmth and enjoyed our 4-hour-or-so trip to the city. We arrived around noon and it was quickly apparent how wrong I was: it was 27C (32C with the humidex) and, well, *dabs sweat* it was only determined to get worse from there.

Still, were were game to get out and explore, so after checking into our hotel room, we headed to Downtown Camera so that I could visit in person for the first time. I had been sending my development away to them for three years, so it was nice to see what it was like.

As it was the first day in town, the only other thing we had planned was dinner. As is tradition for us, it was a plate of nachos at Sneaky Dee’s!
