It is certain that I will get out with a camera today. We’re both off today, I have one more lens to try (a Nikkor-H 50mm f/2 from about 1969), and – at least right now before sunrise – it’s supposed to be clear today!

In the meantime, I have an On This Day from January 1, 2024, when Kathleen and I got out for a little walk around in the neighbourhood’s quiet. Especially as our bodies, minds, and souls scream at us to stay indoors during this season, it’s important to get out a little. We don’t want to gather dust!

On an unrelated note, after 60 days without texty-type social media, I have a new account on Mastodon. One thing that I want to do in 2026 is more of the Linuxy and 11ty-y¹ things I have been doing and Mastodon is where I know I can get a little help if I need it. Although I have Discord, admittedly, it frightens me and doesn’t feel like a good way to get help.

I also came to realize that my biggest problem was with Bluesky, which I suppose shouldn’t be surprising, as it is basically the heir apparent of the Twitter-of-old, which I always disliked.

I’m not quite ready to make the jump yet, but in the longer term, I intend to port this site from WordPress to an 11ty-generated static thing. Baby steps though. ↩︎
