Absent any real adventure plans this weekend, Kathleen and I took a slow walk to Bank to pick up some cat food and groceries. In addition to Hartman’s Massine’s, we stopped in at Herb & Spice, which neither of us had visited in some time, to see how their vegan products were doing.
As one of those couples who never know what to have for dinner, we were delighted to find an egg replacement (made of mung bean), which in turn gave us the bright idea to have a little breakfast for dinner: so an egg-and-cheese (that involved neither chicken nor cow) with tomato on a bagel would be it!
Aside from errands, we made it more of an indoor hobby day, which suited us just as well, since we’re both very chilly ladies these days. Kathleen continued a sewing project and I developed the roll of film I exposed while were were out.
This is where the “risky business” comes in.
The bottle of Flic’s D-96-equivalent I had on the shelf has been mixed for almost eight weeks, which is getting to the end of its shelf life. While I have other developers available that are good (HC-110, B/W/G, Rodinal), curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to tempt fate with the retirement-age developer.
(I did well with the aging E6 and C-41 chemistries recently, so there was hope!)
While in the game of “is it pictures?”, it’s pictures, the developer was clearly weakened and left me with one under-developed roll! For the scans, I decided to play into it some more and edit for a bit more contrast and inkiness.
Perhaps I can chalk it up to the influence of some of the movies we’ve been watching lately instead of making photographic lemonade… 馃檪
