For yesterday’s adventure, Kathleen and I decided to make our way down to the Glebe to browse for crafts, vintage, and perhaps even a delicious treat or two.

Our first stop was the Glebe Craft and Artisan Fair, held annually at the Glebe Community Centre. This one’s always quite popular and when we arrived, it was quite busy.

Although we knew it would be, our main memory was of a walk we took to the neighbourhood two years ago with the same goal. With a sort of half-remembered date and time, we eagerly walked into the community centre, only to be greeted by a young member of the Centre’s staff who, with the sort of bold confidence one has when they’re entirely correct, let us know that we had not arrived on the right day.

This year would be different, and the slow moving traffic and groups of people walking in let us know that were were in the right.

This time.

It was a lovely show, with Christmas music in the background and the crowd definitely entering into holiday shopping mode. While generally happy, most seemed to be there with a purpose that Kathleen and I did not bring.

Still, in the end, Kathleen was able to find a fun purse with crocheted flowers (great for future afternoon tea?), a very cute used tea bag holder (great for tea at work), and we purchased some delicious chocolate too!

Next up was a tour through 613flea, which is hosted regularly in the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne. While nothing followed us home, it was still lovely to browse around and just be in among the crowds of people. …many of whom were also moving about with a holiday sense of purpose that we lack!
