The second of a total of three times I’ve used a Leica had me using the Leica R8. Sure, the R8 (and succeeding R9) is not the most attractive modern SLR, but once I began using it, I was pleasantly surprised at what a joy it was to actually use.
Unfortunately, at least by my standards, the roll was a little overdeveloped by the lab (something I had occur more than once), but many of the lens’s qualities shone through well. The R8’s charms were certainly felt, and I would be lying if I said that wasn’t at least a little tempted at the time to make an offer.
