Since Kathleen had other (very exciting) plans this Saturday, the adventure was mine alone. Trying to be at least somewhat fiscally responsible in light of a trip to Toronto I will be taking next month, I decided that I would pay visit to 613flea in the Aberdeen Pavilion to search for some novelty earrings!

In some ways, the weather was nice: a high of 12°C brought with it considerable melt. It was also oppressively overcast and the humidity coupled with an intermittent breeze meant that my bones were nevertheless chilled.

I decided that I would not let heavy overcast or the deceptive cold of a False Spring stop me from choosing a slower film to expose. Being a little disappointed in Thursday’s sandy (i.e. grainy) results from FX-37 on T-Max 400, I wanted to see how a slower film would look.

In the end, I think it’s promising. While I didn’t exactly set myself up for success – the low light meant making photos with a more open aperture than I would otherwise prefer (many at f/1.8 to f/4) and when combined with a little shake as shutter speeds approached 30-45, I ended up a little lot softer than I was hoping for.

And I still don’t know if I’m yet sold on FX-37. After two rolls, I’m thinking it’s not for me and have the same creeping feeling that I did with T-Max Developer. I’ll just have to see.

It was nevertheless a lovely adventure! I didn’t find any earrings of sufficient novelty for my mood, but as a consolation, stopped for a delicious oat flat white at Little Victories, which warmed me up in just the right ways.

Otherwise, it was quite a domestic day, with groceries (last night’s dinner was a tofu-spinach curry (vegan butter chicken)), meal prep (my vegan egg’n’cheeses for office days), and chores (a heavy ironing week), paving the way for a more relaxing Sunday.
