Nearing the peak of a recent heatwave, it might be a little curious that this past Saturday’s adventure related to hot beverages. With the benefit of almost-sweaty hindsight, I’m now as confused as you might be!

After my regular brow appointment, we headed west toward Preston Street so I could make photos along the way.

Our goal?

Plant & Curio. A super lovely shop staffed by super lovely people who sell super lovely plants, plant accessories, and ceramics.

I might have explained it before, but sadly, we can’t have plants in our apartment. It’s not really a tragic story or anything like that: we have two ding-dong cats: one who eats every plant he sees, and one who sits in every plant she sees.

In other words, plants in our house have no chance.

It’s their delightful ceramics we were after.

Earlier in the week, Kathleen, who follows them on Instagram, noticed that they had some limited edition hand-painted mugs on offer. All with various Halloween kitties on them. Oh yes, one would be hers.

Since we were going to be a little early for the shop to open, I tried my best to make it a slow amble toward the shop.

That didn’t really work.

Whatever inspiration I had was on Somerset and we found ourselves in the vicinity with 40 minutes to spare. It turns out that this was more of an opportunity, however, and we stopped in at Ten Toes for a nice hot (!) beverage.

Once we finished our macadamia Apple Pie Fogs, we made our way to the shop and Kathleen chose her mug.

She can now sip her tea from a more seasonally-appropriate vessel!
