On Wednesday, I decided to take a little walk through Sandy Hill. Enough time has passed since I was enrolled in a university that I forgot just how busy a university campus is at the beginning of the school year!

Wave-after-wave of student: on campus and outside of it in the neighbourhood. It was quite a thing and it was a little challenging in places to stop and compose a photo.

I really had one mission on this walk: clothes.

I need clothes.

Badly.

Especially clothes for colder weather.

As it happens, transition continues to bring a number of changes and, with the cooler weather setting in, I’ve found myself with a whole lot of clothing that doesn’t really fit.

Complicating matters, I don’t really wear pants. I am much more at home in dresses and skirts. My autumn uniform is a mid-length skirt and cardigan or dress with a cardigan, both with colourful tights. In other words, I dress a little bit like a stereotypical 1960s librarian, but with purple hair and big round glasses.

Knowing that my chances of finding anything weren’t good, I still paid visit to the Rideau Centre in search of something nice.

I found nothing.

Nothing at all.

What I did see on the racks was either too short (I’m too old and too much of a normie for a belt-length skirt) or a little too nearing-retirement (I’m too young and our life is hobbies and art outside of work), and like Kathleen, I don’t like to feel of most affordable synthetics.

So it was back home I went.

Online was beckoning.
