As I mentioned in a previous post, Kathleen and I will be taking a little time in September to make our way to Nova Scotia.

We make these trips annually, and they’re both to vacate and they’re to visit family: Kathleen being born and raised there, and my mom relocated to the coast for retirement. Save for a cart full of film I intend to order, we have everything in hand: namely the kitty sitter and plane tickets.

Thinking about this trip raised memories of our visit two years ago, in 2023. Instead of September, we chose August, which, while lovely, was a mistake: it was too hot many of the days. It was if we brought Ottawa’s humid summers with us. A force that even the North Atlantic didn’t seem able to counter.
