So that was our “main event” on Saturday: a visit to the Ottawa Art Gallery! Since we love the gallery and live nearby, it’s a place we visit frequently enough: perhaps 4-6 times per year. This time, it was to see an exhibit called Grotto: The Bill Staubi Collection, a showcase of queer art collected by Mr. Staubi from the late-1970s onward.
While there, we also exhibits featuring Normee Ekoomiak’s akinnamiutait, Inuit printing, and one called Sight, Not Seeing, which was about navigating between visibility and invisibility as Black artists in Canada (a familiar topic that is frequently discussed among many trans people like myself).
As usual, we left the gallery talking all about what we saw!
