In spite of the mercurial weather, I ended up making more photos than I had anticipated. A quick stop at our hotel for more film, and we were ready to spend a little time at the Art Gallery of Hamilton!
The Helen McNicoll exhibition was particularly lovely. Though more than 70 years apart, many of her scenes reminded my of my own childhood summers, though the role of older sister was limited to my own silent longings.
On the second floor, the Kim Adams pieces (1, 2) were a really fun and compelling! We had a whole lot of fun and we lingered for quite some time, looking for fun easter eggs (a bit like in Little Canada a few days earlier)!
After our time at the gallery, we decided to pay Whitehern a visit, only to find out that it’s sort of guided tour only, and that the next one wouldn’t be for nearly an hour. While it would have been interesting, we didn’t really want to wait around that long and were getting thirsty.
So it was a break at the Saint James. (Which was fairly near closing for the day and the staff, anxious to end a long day, tolerated out lingering.)
Finally, we decided to pay Polyester Plus a visit. We had seen posters around town advertising it and the promise of plus-sized vintage was a little too great to pass up! While we didn’t end up finding any clothing to our tastes, Kathleen did find an adorable pair of earrings that look like bowtie pasta!
