As you might be able to tell from the photos above, we did not make it to see any of the city’s fine waterfalls.
You might say that the falls came to us.
At least in part.
In the form of rain!
The walk to the Wentworth Stairs was much longer than anticipated, which as the First Lady of Navigation, was my fault. We wanted to get to the stairs because there is a bike share dock there, which so happened to have four bicycles available.
It was still (unexpectedly) sunny when we rented the bicycles and proceeded down the Escarpment Rail Trail. While neither of us had been on a bicycle in years – me since 2012 and her probably 2005 – within minutes, the old saying proved true and were were making our way down the path with confidence.
It didn’t take long for the skies to open up once the wobbles stopped. We had made it just past the rail yard when we decided to turn around and seek shelter. And, of course, as if to taunt us, the rain stopped just in time for us to finish docking and checking in our borrowed bicycles.
The desire to cycle to the waterfalls had passed and I have some $16 in credit to my Hamilton Bikeshare account. Another time, perhaps.
From there, we walked back up to King Street. The art gallery was calling!
