Wednesday would be our last full day in Toronto. The vacation was not over, however! On Thursday, we were going to check out of our hotel, head to Union Station, and board a GO Train to Hamilton! All of that will come later in future blog posts though.
Out near-soaked experience on Tuesday had us consider a few more indoor options for Wednesday. For the morning, we decided that another visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario was in order. We always love a good art gallery visit and a coworker of mine let me know before leaving that the gallery has one of Yayoi Kusama’s mirror rooms – Let’s Survive Forever – installed to Spring 2026.
Kusama’s mirror room was an interesting experience. It’s one party at a time and you get 60 seconds in the room. An attendant knocks at 50 seconds to let you know time’s almost up. I, like most it seems, chose to spend the minute making photos (six film, one digital). Kathleen took the opportunity to take in the experience more as it was probably intended. Either way, we did enjoy it!
In addition to the permanent collection, we also made sure to take in Moments in Modernism, Light Years: The Phil Lind Gift, Tissot, Women and Time, and Recuerdo: Latin American Photography at the AGO. In Recuerdo, I was absolutely struck by the photography of Graciela Iturbide!
