Once we had finished our leisurely stroll on the boardwalk along the beaches, we returned to Queen Street East. Neither of us were tired, so we decided to keep walking back toward downtown. We could hop onto a street car at any time or stop of a snack at any time along the way. When we walked through Leslieville last year, it was too early in the morning: almost nothing was open, so this time, we’d be able to stop, browse, and maybe even shop.
At the very least, we had to pay Queen Books a visit. While it was one of the few book stores we left empty-handed during this vacation, it’s a real gem and a delight to visit. If we lived in Leslieville, it would be our version of Perfect Books.
The sun bright and the air temperature cool, I spent the walk through Leslieville into Riverside building up a sunburn on my left arm. Spring always brings this lesson: if the sun’s out, sunscreen’s out too. I’m only now just coming to the end of my peeling.
