Being *~* of a certain age *~* Kodak’s Kodacolor derivatives are, for me, the colour of a hazy nostalgia. Warm summer days, family vacations, birthday parties, all evocative of warm golden colours and tones. And on bright days, these films really quite sing. A match made in Gen-X and *cough* Geriatric Millennial *cough* nostalgic heaven.

I’ve always found them a poor fit for cloudy days though. A warmer-toned film with cool, dull light just tend work at cross-purposes. I’ve always found that Fuji’s (recently-discontinued, dwindling, and aging stocks of) Superia perform well under cloudy light and, while I have a half-dozen rolls, I am saving them for the summer, when their biggest strength (rendering of greens) will show.

In spite of this, I wanted to make photos in colour yesterday, so when we stepped out for a lil’ local loop, it was with a roll of Kodak ColorPlus!

The results are about what I expected, but they do capture the sort of feel I get as winter begins to fade into early spring. The snow begins to disappear, but it will be nearly eight weeks until things are hospitable enough for the plants to start showing themselves.
