The bus I rely on for part of my office journey has been unreliable this week.
Somehow, during the snowstorm, it was on time and, save for one heroic burnt-rubber struggle up a hill, smooth and efficient. But on Wednesday and Thursday, seemingly every Ottawa bus to the end of Hull I work in decided to cancel out as I was preparing to end my day.
At about an hour, the walk home is both straightforward and — at least when I’m less grumpy about cancelled buses — quite pretty. It takes me over the nicer bridge with the nicer view of Parliament, and a stroll through one of the city’s nicer parks before heading down Elgin and home.
Being as chilly as it has been lately, the winds across the river are quite cold, those gusts mean heightened skirt-management vigilance!
Still, it’s nice in its own right and weather conditions aside, since the bridge has been closed to auto traffic, it’s a quiet and pleasant little walk. If anything, I’m looking forward to the spring.
I’ll probably just walk to and from work when that happens! I’ve been meaning to make photos in the morning light and by April or May, I should have the sunlight to do so!
