Thursday came bearing gifts of snow. A bit more than a foot of it. The city’s transportation services went into a sort of preemptive turtle defence posture (i.e. they cancelled many runs and shortened many others — including the bus to the office) and, well, much of the city hunkered down for the day.

Of course, while it makes getting to-and-from where you need to on a schedule challenging-to-impossible, a good snowstorm in also unfailingly beautiful, so I made sure to get out on an extra trudgy lil’ local loop after my day was done.

Most older camera meters struggle a bit with snowy scenes and the Elan II is no exception. The bit of unevenness you see in the gallery above is a reflection of the negatives. While I love consistency across a roll, I also find achieving it through scans can sometimes be a bit too fiddly, so I fall back on a more “organic” presentation.

Of course, if this were my livelihood, I’d definitely have to get out the metaphorical bow and practice!
