Not everything’s really for you. And in the case of yesterday’s results, I think that perhaps Kosmo Foto’s Agent Shadow film isn’t one that’s for me. At least not in the situations I tend to make photos.

When I used my first roll of it a few weeks ago, I was convinced that my development had gone totally awry. After developing another roll yesterday, I’m not so sure it was entirely development error.

At least not entirely (the water marks sure were!).

Just like on January 4, the film looked nice enough out of the tank, if perhaps a little dull, but when I began my scanning, the displeasing grain style was apparent once again.

Then I spent a little time looking at blog reviews from the past two years, and, wouldn’t you know? The results all looked pretty similar to what I was getting! A wide variety of developers, cameras, lenses, lighting situations, and all had that sort of overall feel.

Although a little disappointing in the end, I’ve been going out of my way to try other film stocks. I know and love the popular 400s like Tri-X, HP5+, T-Max, and Delta, but one of the adventures of film I like the most is trying new-to-me films (or those I had maybe tried a roll of a few years ago).
