As we do every October, Kathleen and I recently visited Pine Hill at Rockcliffe Park. It’s always nice to spend a little time in a reasonably quiet forested area and Kathleen gets to meet and pet many dogs. Most importantly, is the resident barred owl, who seems to like the perches near the lower path.

We didn’t really bring the right cameras and lenses to capture his presence (the photo above is about the best of a bunch), but we did spend a bit of time watching him as we watched us. Always a bit of forest magic.
